The Silver Line of the Washington Metro System is an extenstion of the current Metro system to the Tysons Corner area of McLean & Vienna and extending through Reston and Herndon to the Washington Dulles International Airport and on to Ashburn Virginia./

Construction is being handled in 2 Phases with the first phase extending the Metro to Reston, Virginia. The line will be a total of 23 miles long for both phases. The line will open in two phases with 11.6 miles (18.7 km) of Phase I service to Reston, Virginia to open in 2013 and an additional 11.5 miles (18.5 km) of Phase II service to the airport and Loudoun County in 2016.
The addition of the Silver Line will have a major impact of the areas real estate values and market conditions. Because of this we will be devoting a number of blog post to the Silver Line and the communities that will be directly impacted by the Metro.
Phase One:
Here are the stations that are scheduled to be opened during Phase One:
Tysons East, Tysons Central 123, Tysons Central 7, Tysons West, Reston – Wiehle Avenue
The Tysons East Station will be located on Route 123 at Scotts Crossing / Colshire Drive, near the Capital One Building & the Capital Beltway.
The Tysons Central 123 Station will be located on Route 123 at Tysons Boulevard, near the Tysons Corner Center and Tysons II Galleria Malls.
The Tysons Central 7 Station will be located on Route 7 just northwest of Route 123, near the current Merchant Tire and Pike 7 Plaza.
The Tysons West Station will be located on Route 7 at Spring Hill Road, near the current Honda and Kia dealerships.
The Reston – Wiehle Avenue Station will be located in Reston in the median of the Dulles Airport Access / Toll Road, just west of the intersection with Wiehle Avenue.
Estimated time is based upon a projected opening in 2013. The date selected is July 1st and the actual opening date may be sooner or later at the opening approaches. We will update this site as the date gets closer.
