It is the county seat of Pinellas County and is in the Guinness Book of World Records for most consecutive days of sunshine in a year, with 361 days. It measures 39.2 square miles. In recent years, Downtown Clearwater has undergone major redevelopment and growth with the completion of a large marina and many high-rise condos and the opening of many new bars, restaurants and other amenities. Its communities are made up of mostly single family dwellings and high rise condos.
